Appropriately selected density of the foam prevents uncontrolled rotation of the foam plastic core without bonding it to the core. The advantage of this is the ability to disassemble the shaft to clean it. The density of the foam used ensures uniform layering of paint or impregnation and no deformation of the shaft.
